What to look for when deciding which Surveyor to go with?

When deciding which Surveyor to go with, you may wish to consider the following:

  1. Qualifications and accreditation: All Surveyors at GetHouseSurvey.co.uk are RICS registered Chartered Surveyors and qualified to conduct all building surveys

  2. Experience: All Surveyors at GetHouseSurvey.co.uk have at least 10 years experience

  3. Insurance: Just in case the worst situation happens and something is missed in the report, you want to be sure the Surveyor is insured. All Surveyors at GetHouseSurvey.co.uk carry their own Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance to give you a little more assurance

  4. When you can get the report? GetHouseSurvey.co.uk strive to deliver all reports within 7 business days. However, for 2020 we averaged a 4.5 day turnaround time from initial request to having the completed report in your inbox

  5. Can I ask the Surveyor Questions? Yes of course! GetHouseSurvey.co.uk provide you with the Surveyors email and phone number so you can contact them directly. We request that if you have any of your own concerns that you highlight them to the surveyor prior to conducting the survey. Once the report is completed the Surveyor is available at the end of a phone to answer any specific questions you may have.

  6. Can I meet the Surveyor at the Property? Most Surveyors prefer to complete the survey first and then do a quick walk around with you afterwards. Note that during Covid Restrictions the practise of meeting a Surveyor is not an option.

  7. Will the report contain photographs? This varies a lot between Surveyors. Having photographs included is not essential but could be useful. Some Surveyors will automatically include lots of photos. Some Surveyors will provide you a link to photos and will not be part of the report. Some Surveyors only include photos where there are areas of concern. If the property is in good condition then there will be less need for photographs. If the property is in poor condition then photographs might be useful.
